Things to do around Skibbereen
THE SKIBBEREEN TRAIL - historical walking tour of the town consisting of different sites, which have links with the Great
Irish Famine. Copies of the Trail are available at the Turist Office and at different outlets throughout the town.
FISHING - is available on the River Ilen and Shepperton Lakes.
SEA ANGLING, DOLPHIN and WHALE watching, WATERSPORTS, HORSE RIDING
are all available locally.
A BLUE FLAG BEACH is situated at Tragumna.

SKIBBEREEN SPORT CENTRE - has an extensive range of sports facilities including fully equipped gymnasium.
SKIBBEREEN AND WEST CARBERY GOLF CLUB - Skibbereen Golf Course is an open parkland 18 hole golf course, situated
2km west of Skibbereen along the Baltimore road.
SKIBBEREEN PITCH AND PUTT COURSE - (18 holes) is situated at Glencurragh at the edge of the town.
Islands:
BARE ISLAND - the largest of the West Cork Islands. The Island was a former British military base and a number of
forts survive from those times.
CAPE CLEAR ISLAND - one of the surviving Irish language speaking areas in the south west Ireland.
SHERKIN ISLAND - is located in the beautiful Roaringwater Bay and is the second largest of Carbery's Hundred Isles.
